I recently had the chance to be the pianist for Symphonic Cinema’s workshop of Jaap Nico Hamburger’s new opera, Ariella, alongside members of the Atelier Lyrique of the Opéra de Montréal. Symphonic Cinema is a Netherlands-based company that aims to create an innovative format for classical music, creating cinematic renditions of classical pieces that respond and adjust to live performances in real time.
It was such a thrill to be the orchestra for this workshop, alongside conductor Vincent de Kort, librettist Thomas Beijer, director Lucas van Woerkum, producer Wim Lehnhausen, and of course, the composer himself! I can’t wait to see how this project unfolds.
